At a Glance
Inner City Green Team understands the key to a successful recycling program is convenience for the residents. Based on a survey of 600 households conducted by GCF at Brownsville Houses, "convenience" was cited as the most important aspect of any proposed solution to improving recycling in the development. ICGT is a multi-tiered operation who's layers involve interactive community engagement activities for the youngest to the eldest of participants. Our “service delivery” approach provides residents the most convenient, accessible, and engaging experience with recycling and waste prevention. It ties together environmental education, convenience in the form of a door-to-door pick-up service for recyclables, and the use of data and rewards to affect behavior change.

Creating Green Collar Jobs
A key element in providing an efficient and convenient at your door recycling collection service is a dependable and dedicated staff. As a priority, NYCHA residents are hired to do the work. Working with residents is a key part of our strategy to not only create employment opportunities, but also to create a sense of community amongst residents around the practice of recycling.
Recycling Education & Outreach
Making it Engaging!
Under this program, residents are trained on proper recycling practices. Once enrolled they are given a Recycling Kit which reinforces what they've learned.

Repurposing with a Purpose
The "Uplift and Upcycle Fashion Project" serves a dual purpose. It introduces young adults to the art of fashion with the intention of building their confidence and self esteem. It also demonstrates approachable ways to reuse and recycle clothing that appeals to todays fashion trends.
